Strategic planning with GOSPA

GOSPA is a winning formula in business and in personal life.

The acronym stands for the following:-

G-Lens

O-goals

S-strategies

Planes P

A-activities

The above are common and regular words in the business field, they will never be replaced by better words.

In strategic planning, Goals and Objectives are alike, as are strategies and plans. However, they are polar opposites. Goals are still the desired end points, while objectives are those actions that will accomplish those goals. Strategies and plans are established tactics enshrined in various activities in business or personal life to produce the necessary results.

To achieve any goal with the GOSPA model, the user must write down everything they intend to achieve and why. This plan should state what to do, when to do it, who will do it, where it will be done, and how it will be done. Writing down such plans helps one to focus on the real thing and take on schedules that they can handle effectively.

GOSPA derived its derivatives from an old SMART business formula that stipulates that all goals set by an individual or organization must be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time bound.

Research in business and personal life improvement shows that using GOSPA, 5W&H, with SMART can improve productivity by at least 25% per year. An improvement of 25% per year may seem slow, but achieving it year after year turns out to be a big leap. The use of all these formulas shows the actors really focused and offers them the checks and balances that they need so much, unless they get involved in white elephant projects.
