A Dog Pooping On A Baby: Why The Stupid Little Things Matter

When Marshall Eriksen was waiting for the results of his bar exam, Barney Stinson decided he had something to show. A YouTube movie with a dog pooping on a baby. This is an obvious scene from the CBS show How I Met Your Mother, where Barney and Marshall are two of the main characters. But there is some wisdom in this act of the Legendary Barney Stinson.

What can it mean for us adults when a dog poops on a baby?

When you think about it. A dog pooping on a baby, you’ll probably start laughing right away, because you can picture it. It’s kind of stupid and as a video probably even more stupid, but it puts a smile on your face and that’s probably where its power is. What do these stupid simple things mean in our world?

  • As our world becomes more and more serious, we need to laugh. While Marshall is trying to figure out whether or not he’s really going to be a lawyer, we’re all busy with ‘important’ things all the time. Students are busy with their future jobs, workers are busy paying off debt or earning enough money, and young children are already busy thinking about how they can get top grades. Everyone in this world today needs to be serious and we can laugh from time to time.
  • Smiling releases endorphins. When you are smiling, you become happy. You don’t need to be happy at all, if you are just smiling you will be happy. A smile is such a powerful tool when you need to cheer yourself up, you need to get yourself back on track. Try it sometime, when you’re angry, grumpy or sad, put on a video of, say, a dog pooping on a baby, and smile. You’ll feel better, guaranteed.
  • It’s a dog POOPING on a BABY! Does that need an explanation? That can only be funny right?! Or, as Barney Stinson likes to say: AMAZING!

The dog that poops on a baby looks more like it. He is like all the little things, the little acts, the fun little things in life. Enjoying these simple things in life and the ability to laugh are two of the most important qualities a person can have in this serious world. Accept it, enjoy it. And keep laughing at dogs pooping on babies.
