P90X2 – What to expect from the program

Hello P90Xniacs. Here is a short summary comparing P90X and P90X2.

P90X2 is a continuation of the first version of the incredible extreme fitness training program called P90X. As you probably know, it took over all fitness spaces in 2004. This version fits directly with the objectives of those who want to develop skills for the practice of sports. Tony Horton devoted all his talent to presenting this demanding audience with a version more focused on this theme. The success of the P90X2 is already recognized and leaves no doubt about its quality in terms of results. A great formula for success is the methodology presented by Tony Horton. P90X2 comes with the post-activation-potentiation technique. The difference here is the addition of a large number of body techniques that will develop all the qualities an athlete needs to increase their potential.

Pairs of differences between P90X and P90X2

P90X2, requires 5 days of your time per week, unlike the first 6-day version. But don’t feel comfortable just for this. Fewer days means more intensity. Personally, I think it is much better to spend 5 days spent in a training marathon, than six days with a less intense pace. Another fitness program that embraces the 5-day heavy push workout is the incredible Sixpackshortcut (led by Mike Chang).

Tony Horton has not repeated the traditional P90X training exercises in this program. The routines and phases are unique, creative, fun, and very productive. Again, the program is for both genders. They show more than one way to perform the exercises in almost every routine.

The yoga version of this module is more focused on providing results with respect to sports demands. It was shortened to 10 minutes from its original 75-minute version. The practice of yoga is undoubtedly very important for your performance, elasticity and stretch.

You’ll feel your heart beating big in the new P90X2. Although there are no cardiovascular exercises, the intensity is much higher than on the P90X. It is important to remember that the more intense you exercise, the more calories you burn. Consequently, there will also be a great improvement in your endurance levels over the course of the program. Don’t worry … I guarantee you’ll sweat your shirt like never before … oh hell yeah …

Let’s dive into the details of the program

The P90X2 is more flexible than the traditional P90X. This time, Tony Horton took into consideration the specific goals of each person. Therefore, the number of weeks you plan to train is based on what you want to achieve. In other words, if you think 3 weeks is enough for you, well, move on to the next phase. If not, continue until you think it is necessary. In fact, it is quite good.

The program is divided into 3 phases.

First phase – Foundation (3 to 6 weeks)

Second phase – Strength (3 to 6 weeks)

Third phase – Performance (3 to 4 weeks)

In Phase 1, you will create a physical adaptation to the program. Tony H. prepares you for the big bang of phases 2 and 3. There is a schedule based on a 7-day training program for each phase. Since you only do 5 days of training, give a 2 day break and come back for day 6 and 7. Then repeat the week from day one. The 7 days for phases 1 are: Core, Plyocide, Rest or X2 Recovery + mobility, Total Body & X2 Ab Ripper, Yoga, Balance + Power and Finally Rest or X2 Recovery plus Mobility.

In phase 2, bodybuilding fitness workouts make their presence felt. The exercises in this phase work 2-3 different groups of muscles. This phase is quite similar to the original program. But this time, with different exercises, much more intensity was added, as mentioned above.

A week off is not applied, as in the original program. Tony leaves it open. Makes it very flexible. This period of 7 days (or less if desired) will be used in accordance with the conditions of the participant.

In phase 3 you will find the highest differential of P90X2. Post-activation-potentiation is put into practice. Divided into upper and lower body, the different muscle groups fell applying the technique directly. The program refers to this method of work as complex.
