Living the Florida lifestyle

The great state of Florida is both a vacation and permanent residence destination for millions of people each year. Florida has been a haven for “snowbirds” from the northern part of the United States for more than a century due to its temperate and tropical climate. And in the last 30 to 40 years it has also been a vacation destination due to major theme parks built and upgraded since the late 1960s.

For vacationers and non-vacationers, Orlando, Florida is known as the vacation capital of the world. With Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World and a host of other theme parks and one of the largest convention complexes in the world, the Orlando/Central Florida area offers visitors a little bit of everything. From hot roller coasters to fun and exciting shows, Central Florida is the place for an event-filled vacation.

For those who like a quieter vacation destination, the Sarasota, Longboat Key, and Siesta Key areas offer some of the most relaxing and pristine beaches in the state. Several accommodations along Longboat Key offer beach access just steps from the door of your cabin or vacation home.

Florida also has the distinction of having the oldest city in the United States, St. Augustine, founded in 1565. St. Augustine offers some of the most distinctive architecture and old world charm you’ll find anywhere in the country. While there are many historical treasures to partake of during your visit to this ancient city, one of the most relaxing things to do is stay at a bed and breakfast along the main road or Avenida Menéndez. In the evenings, you can sit on the front porch of one of these grand mansions and watch the horse-drawn carriages go by while sipping a glass of wine. How about that sound to relax?

If you are considering Florida as a retirement location, then the cities of Sebastian or Vero Beach may be right for you. While offering easy access to Florida’s major metropolitan areas, these two communities offer a much more relaxed atmosphere in keeping with the retiree lifestyle.

Don’t worry about the activities in these small towns because there is a lot to do here. The Indian River Mall offers excellent high-end shopping, dining and one of the state’s original stadium-seating theaters. Vero Beach also offers a world-class museum and theater.

Come visit the wonderful State of Florida for an exciting and memorable vacation or come experience what we full-time residents enjoy year-round, that great Florida lifestyle!
