WiFi Internet reaches your TV

What is Super Wi-Fi? Imagine the ability to connect to the Internet wirelessly, anytime, anywhere. You’re probably thinking this is already being done, and you’re right, but not on the level I’m talking about here. Right now, you can go to any coffee shop or place that offers a wireless connection, connect to the Internet, and handle everything from blogging to banking. This is child’s play compared to what the FCC is proposing and everything will be voted on this Thursday.

If approved, it would mean that the old TV frequencies would be a conduit for Super WiFi. This frequency is called “White Space” and is a spectrum from 300 MHz to 400 MHz to offer wireless broadband services. He can travel surprisingly long distances and walk through walls. The range is so wide that logging in from your plane flight will be handled without interruption.

The idea behind this is not just to connect to the Internet. That’s just the surface of what Super Wifi is capable of. Technology companies such as Motorola, Microsoft, Google, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, and Intel are currently testing products that will use this “white space.” This could mean that not only will you be able to have a greater connection range, but you will also be able to connect in other ways. With the use of RFID chips, you will be able to track your dog, children and even control spoiled food in the refrigerator. The chip can be placed on a ring, necklace, cell phone or anywhere you want to put one.

The technology is definitely not going anywhere. While some parts are pretty fun and cool, other parts can be downright scary. I really hope one day I can make my bed.
