Why fear increases productivity

Fear increases productivity primarily due to its ability to instill a strong sense of purpose in people! Fearing the loss of anything we covet is one of the most intense motivators a person can experience! This motivation pushes you to focus your effort on doing whatever it takes to prevent your loss! Whether fear is used intentionally, such as in a work setting, or the product of a random occurrence or event, it strengthens your sense of purpose and makes your efforts more productive!

Let’s see the effect of how our fear of something can significantly contribute to making our efforts much more productive!

Motivation

It is human nature when faced with any kind of fear to do everything possible to make these feelings go away! Quite frankly, this is one of the most uncomfortable feelings to experience, therefore it gives you an instant sense of purpose which is to extinguish fear! Obviously, having any kind of fear will force you to focus your effort on overcoming it, and in many cases, doing whatever it takes!

Focus

Fears or threats are usually something that catches our immediate attention! Typically, a person’s reaction is to take immediate action to repair, resolve, or defeat the source! In this way, the actions he performs have a unique sense of purpose, which increases his focus and makes his effort or efforts even more productive.

Perseverance

Possessing the intense motivation and sharp focus that we discussed above only serves to strengthen our resolve to achieve our immediate goal! No one likes the uncomfortable feeling or mental torment of being afraid of something and they don’t want this condition to persist either! That being said, doing whatever it takes for as long as it takes is the attitude people typically take to get back to their previous comfort level.

Fear increases productivity in a way that may not be as comfortable, but is still very effective! Facing the loss of anything we covet, whether it be a loved one, income, or even bodily harm, is one of the biggest motivators a person can have to take action to prevent loss! Fearing anything strengthens our sense of purpose to do whatever it takes to get rid of this fear. The discussion above shows the ‘progression’ we go through when faced with the potential loss of something we covet and how it will force you to channel your effort into avoiding the loss! In this way, this particular emotion serves to make our efforts more useful and productive!
