Hosting a Mother’s Day Tea Party – Here are some Mother’s Day tea party activities

Are you organizing a tea party for your mom? To honor that important person in our lives, you want to make her smile and warm her heart. She will no doubt find her own heart swelling with warmth in the process. It can be you and your mother, or it can include generational mothers. It is not uncommon to see great-grandmother, grandmother, mother and daughter enjoying this celebration together.

I can’t think of a better activity than a walk down memory lane. Get out your photo album or a photo box if you don’t have one. Ask others to bring theirs as well. Some of them may be quite old and the younger ones may not know any relatives in the pictures. This is a good time to tell your family story and let young people know where they come from.

Looking at old photos always makes someone remember when they enjoyed something they did. Let them talk about where they did it and who was with them. It may surprise a great-granddaughter to learn that her great-grandmother was the first girl to be on a boys’ baseball team in her high school.

In my family, seeing the hairstyles that women wore long before always brings moans and groans. The same goes for the clothes they were wearing as well. Images of parties attended, family weddings, picnics, family vacations, and trips to amusement parks can spark a fit of laughter that won’t stop for a while.

One of our favorite family memories is from a family vacation when my nephew opened the door to the condo and walked over and opened the fridge to get a drink when he realized he was in the wrong condo. The people inside stared at him and they all burst out laughing. TIP: Close your doors

A tear or two may be shed when you see a photo of someone who is no longer with you, but this is another opportunity to remember them with laughter and love. You will no doubt begin to count all the things that you and your family should be thankful for.

Host a tea party means find food for the tea party

Tea parties are known for their bite-sized foods such as tea sandwiches, small tea cakes, and cookies. Fresh fruit is always welcome and small fruit tarts. Someone there will love the little pieces of fudge or candy. Providing fruits and sweets should satisfy both the health conscious and the sweet tooth.

Remember to provide some foods that Great Grandma can easily eat by finding out if she has any dietary restrictions that you need to follow. If she can’t go out, take her to the tea party.

The tea itself can be a hot English Earl Grey, an iced passion fruit, or something in between. If you have a generational little person, a Rooibos tea is a good option without caffeine.

Try the Tea Sandwich Spread Below:

Cream cheese with bacon and almonds

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons toasted almonds
  • 2 slices of crispy fried bacon
  • 1 small diced onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce.

Add ingredients to a food processor and mix well. Cool well.

Make Mother’s Day a special event by hosting a tea party to remember.
