Bridges, happy or sad?

Fifty years ago, China was naturally divided into southern and northern parts by the Yangtze River, the world’s third longest river that crosses from west to east in China, until the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge (see attached image below ) was completed in 1957 with the help of Russia. Since then, the south and north have been linked by railway and highway, so the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge became the most famous tourist spot in Wuhan. What moved the most was taking a photo with the bridge in the background for those who had ever been to Wuhan. Why is it because the bridge spanning the Yangtze River lasted its glory for 39 years in China?

In 1996, Wuhan finished the second bridge and put it into operation. It is from 1996 that the construction of bridges over the Yangtze River has begun in almost all the cities adjacent to the river, to date there are about 80 large specific bridges in operation and 18 under construction, on average one bridge every 40 km to the long. the river.

We didn’t suffer from any bridge 50 years ago, today we may be temporarily proud and happy because the bridges are bringing us economic prosperity, however finally we will be sad because of these bridges in the future. The officers of some local cities only pay attention to the achievements in their posts without a long-term plan and a suitable design for the passage of large vessels. Some of those bridges have been blocking the river, the “Golden Channel” we have always been proud of for water transportation, 10000 DWT ships could only reach Nanjing and that can’t go forward because of the Yangtze River Bridge of Nanjing without sufficient net headroom on the design and construction. Will this affect China’s water transportation economy? I think it will.

If I don’t consider the national economic development, if I only consider the benefit of my company, I am very pleased to have so many bridges built because my company is an engineering company, skilled in building large and specific bridges with good prestige at the national level. and abroad.

Let me proudly display some of our typical achievements in building specific large-size bridges, mainly over the Yangtze River, as the following pictures.

The Sutong Yangtze River Bridge has already been open to traffic this year, it has created 4 world records such as:

– Main span of 1088m (cable-stayed bridge), the largest in the world;

– 300.6 m high tower, the tallest bridge tower in the world;

– Stay cable 577m long, the longest in the world;

– Foundation of large group piles like 1 football field.
