4 reasons why entrepreneurs are the backbone of the economy

While becoming an entrepreneur isn’t for everyone, it’s the most necessary element of any economy, whether it’s a recession or things are really booming. You just can’t have enough visionaries who were bold enough to risk going it alone because they wanted more control of their lives and were committed to creating value for the rest of the world. I have 4 reasons why I believe small business owners are the backbone of the economy.

First, they are constantly creating jobs for those who want one. When you are the boss, you not only care about the well-being of your family, but also the well-being of your employees, which is very, very rewarding, to say the least. Especially with the state of the economy right now, it’s needed now more than ever.

Second, the value that is created for the end user through the use of your products or services is beyond comprehension. If you were to eliminate all the businessmen in your city, the city would collapse overnight. So instead of giving them a hard time, we should appreciate what they are doing from time to time. Yes, they make a living, but attached to that income is a mountain of responsibility that the public doesn’t see.

Third, these local superheroes are creating products and services that have made what used to be a headache more convenient, easier to use, and so much better. For those who hate mowing the lawn, washing their cars, can’t cook (or don’t like it), or in some cases are just plain lazy, there’s a business in your town that will happily do it for you (for a fee, for of course) or a product that makes it easier to do.

Fourth, they are actually doing what free enterprise was designed to do in the first place. They decided they wanted more out of life, created a vision, and proceeded to pursue the American Dream. Despite the difficulties that sometimes comes with being the boss, it is nonetheless rewarding. Also, unlike a job, a business can be passed down from generation to generation.

My hope is that someone who is either an entrepreneur or aspiring to be will recognize that they are making a difference in the lives of countless people locally and globally and that they deserve a round of applause. If possible, print this out and keep it as a constant reminder of your value to this world.
