iPod Nano 6th Generation – Radical Refreshed

In September 2010, Apple released its latest line of iPods. And among these products is the new iPod nano sixth generation (6th gen).

This little device is essentially the first complete facelift the product has had since its first appearance in 2005. The previous look, light and slim with a decent-sized screen and click wheel, has been thrown in the trash. The new design is a complete departure from the old one, turning iPod nano into a full-touch screen device that can visibly resemble a large living postage stamp rather than a portable mp3 player.

Obviously the Ipod nano has never been so small. The new device is a bit wider than the previous nano, however, this time it has become a small square with a one minute multi-touch LCD screen (1.54 inches, 240×240). On the back there is a built-in clip and the whole package is encased in a colored aluminum box. Also, iPod Nano 6th generation It comes in seven different colors.

If you take a look at the fifth generation nano, you can see that the video camera has been dropped with this new version along with the physical controls.

Aside from those features, the new nano is substantially lighter than the previous model, weighing in at around 21 grams. In fact, it’s so light that when clipped to a shirt, you can barely tell it’s there.

The sixth generation iPod Nano is equipped with three buttons. At the top right is a large button to turn the device on/off or put it to sleep. Two smaller, circular ones located at the top left control the volume. Unlike the previous model, you need to unlock the device and then navigate the wheel to adjust the volume. However, with the latest nano, you can adjust the volume as you like without even looking at the player. It’s a minor improvement, but very useful.

Overall, the new iPod nano is a big step for Apple with the touchscreen as a big PLUS.
